the phrase one another is used in the New Testament nearly 60 times granted not every time was it being used to describe the "church" but a large portion of the time it was. So what does this idea of one another mean for the body of Christ? What does "church" look like if we are living out the idea of one another, in my personal experience one another starts with relationships that are mutually edifying in Gods love for one another consider the following text
"Well, my brothers and sisters, let's summarize what I am saying. When you meet, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in an unknown language, while another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must be useful to all and build them up in the Lord." 1 Cor. 14:26 NLT
"Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds.
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near." Hebrews 10:24-25 NLT
Both of these text speak directly to the Idea of mutual edification in the body of Christ and of a church where there was mass participation from those whom were in attendance with out the idea of a up front single leader except the headship of Christ(Eph. 4:15-16)If you look closely at scripture the early church gatherings were dependent on the headship of Christ and the church gathering was more of a round table format with every member being able to contribute and function in their gifting. So the question how does today's traditional church work towards the idea of one another and participatory gatherings vs. the audience driven pulpit and pew principles we have settled into.
